The Story Behind River Journey Custom Necklace
My youngest sister and her husband-to-be first met on a river rafting trip. Though it may not have quite been love at first sight, over the course of more adventures, a deep connection took root and blossomed. For their tenth wedding anniversary, and after bringing 3 children into the world, I was commissioned to make this special necklace for her. I drew heavily on Egyptian symbology for this project. The top element is a locket that opens. It represents the boats seen in ancient tomb paintings, meant to transport the soul through life and beyond. The stars represent the children. The opals are hydrophilic (water-loving) stones. The waves are life’s challenges.
